App Aims: Pick Your Favorite Fragrant Florals
Reviewer’s Comments
Flowers Guide is a straight-up database of 55 flowers. You can’t add or delete anything from this app – each entry contains a photo and a series of related care information. You can mark and save your favorites, but that’s about the limit of functionality here.
Just to eliminate any confusion: Flowers Guide is considered a companion app to MyFlowers. This Flowers Guide is where you can look at photos and care requirements for the flowers and pick/mark your favorites. MyFlowers, in comparison, is where you can create your own database of photos and care requirements of the flowers in your yard.
Search by type or alphabetically, from Anemone to Zinnia. You also have the option to type in what you’re looking for. But really, since there are only 55 entries, it’s not a big deal to just scroll through all the options. Each entry includes a large, beautiful photo of the flower (with only one or two exceptions), botanical name, family, origins, a short description, various requirements including light, water, weather and soil, bloom and planting times, cares, diseases and notes.
If you work with flowers and need an app that lets you show a client exactly what you’re talking about, this would be a useful tool. If you like to look at pretty, calming photos of flowers it’s not the worst $.99 you’ll ever spend. Of several recently reviewed flower-related apps, this one has the best looking photos.
The App Store’s support link to Sebastian Burrieza’s site, works but contains no helpful content. He does seem to perform fairly regular updates so hopefully the database on Flower Guides will continue to grow.
