App Aims: Preventing Excess Baggage Charges
Reviewer’s Comments
We can see the usefulness in this app, however we’re not sure about the price, considering how simple it is. It offers four simple example packing lists: one each for male and female, a light list and a super-light list. It also has a “my first trip” demo list. And of course you can create you own lists and alter the sample lists.
We would have liked to have seen a list for city travel and a list for more remote travel. For example if you’re traveling to New York City and you get a stomach ache you can simply call the front desk or find a drug store. However, if you are traveling to a more remote part of the world, having a few Tums on hand could provide welcome relief. But the sample lists do not offer this distinction. It would also be nice if you could enter in the trip time duration and whether laundry facilitates are available, these two distinctions could make a big difference on how you pack.
We also question some of the list items, for example on the light list a calculator is included, but most of us have capable calculators on our iPhones. It also has electric razor as an item, when if you are traveling remote, why shave? Or a simple disposable would be lighter and not require power.
Maybe we are over analyzing and as mentioned the lists can be altered, but they also could be rethought a bit, especially for light travel. And Packing could offer more information to new travelers; seasoned travelers could easily use this program to create useful packing lists, even different lists for different climates and times of the year. But new travelers may wonder why do I pack an iPhone and an iPod?
