App Aim: Real Time Global Flight Tracking
Reviewer’s Comments
We checked a few flights with this app and found the information up-to-date and useful; FlightTrack uses information provided by FlightStats. It even has an interesting “offline mode” that can provide gate information and more at 30,000ft.
This app provides flight info such as cruising altitude, actual departure and estimated arrival times, aircraft type, terminal numbers, en route maps and weather maps. Though we did not find the weather map too useful, since it only shows the radar image, so amorphous cloud formations over certain areas, they are color-coded clouds but unless you know what the colors mean, the information is pretty useless. The maps are provided by FlightView.
We found FlightTrack useful, but we are looking forward to the Pro version that is going to work with TripIt, an online travel organizer. With the new functionalities you’ll be able to keep track of flight info plus hotel and rental car information and more. Simply forward your itinerary information to the web site and it will save all of the information for you and put it into the app.
FlightTrack with the information provided by FlightStats and FlightView is useful and functional. The maps were also interesting and good time passer. However, we are still thinking that holding out for the pro version could be worth the wait, we were also thinking how convenient the app would be if it could tie-in to our Expedia account, then it would be perfect. But we might be dreaming.
