App Aims: More brackets, more possibilities
Reviewer’s Comments
Did you know the odds of picking a perfect bracket are 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 to 1? Doesn’t really seem like they’re in your favor, no matter how well you know or follow college basketball. That’s why we liked PocketBracket’s option to create as many different brackets as we want. That way, I can have an entire bracket dedicated to having my alma mater win the entire tournament, despite the fact that I’m pretty certain they’re not going make it past the first round. So the variety of brackets allows me to do several for my team and also some real predictions.
You can view the entire bracket in one window with the option to edit and zoom in on specific matchups where you’d like. You can even use a “smart-fill” to update your bracket automatically, so you never have to redo a game. It also has the option to join other pools, whether it’s the office one or another more widespread one you’d like to get in on. The one thing that we really disliked about this app though, was that it doesn’t make use of the accelerometer. This would make the brackets look so much better if we could view them in landscape rather than trying to smash it into the portrait view. We thought the graphic they had for the brackets was really nice, but it was hard to tell when you were looking at the whole bracket because it seems so smashed and cramped. Other than that, we enjoyed the freedom this app gave us with so many different options for creating the best bracket.
