App Aims: The To-Do List for Your I-Do Day
Reviewer’s Comments
No one would deny planning a wedding can be stressful, complicated and expensive. My Wedding’s goal is to help you take the process one step at a time organizing your tasks by category and date. Think of My Wedding as a very large “to-do” list.
My Wedding’s list of categories is comprehensive including attire, budget, guests, venues and more. One category we really liked was the beauty listing. It included some ideas and tasks that most brides don’t think of until the last minute. The suggestions are quite helpful. We also though the “Ask Me” feature was kind of fun. “Ask Me” is a magic 8 ball like feature that can help you make a decision using the built-in accelerometer. You just shake your iPhone or touch and it will give you an answer like, “Wedding gods still thinking” or “Bet your ring on it: Yes.”
However, on the whole, we don’t feel My Wedding lives up to its full potential. We would have liked to see more integration with the features on the iPhone/touch and the My Wedding app like having the ability to import or insert your contacts into the guest category; and including a calculator with an expense balance.
At the very least we’d like the ability to take songs from iTunes and import them into the music category. Instead your music listing just consists of some tasks like “Book band or DJ, sign contract and pay deposit.
In addition to the disappointing integration we noticed an interface glitch that quickly became annoying. It seems you cannot select the very last option at the bottom of a list. As you scroll to the bottom of your page the screen just bounces. This is most frustrating on the “Edit Item” screen when trying to make additional notes about your task. Sometimes you can select the last feature on the list, but usually the screen bounces faster than your finger can move. Although this is annoying it wouldn’t be near as problematic if the application took advantage of the device’s multitouch technology. It does not.
This interface problem is evident in all sections of the My Wedding application, except on the “All Items” list.
My Wedding’s support goes to their website Connected Wedding. Although Connected Wedding provides a standard email address for contact all community, tips and galleries are through Facebook.
