App Aims: Simple photo editing for when the shot’s not quite right
Reviewer’s Comments
Photoshop.com Mobile is a user-friendly app that makes simple photo adjustments quick and easy. Right on your iPhone whenever and wherever, you can quickly edit images from your picture library and then free up your iPhone’s precious memory space by uploading your photos to Photoshop.com’s cloud.
The picture editing is a breeze, so there’s no need to worry if you don’t have much editing experience. By merely sliding your finger across the screen you can manipulate your pictures so they look more like you actually intended them to. Crop out what you don’t want, get that lighting just right and even brighten or subdue the colors. There are no confusing tutorials that attempt to explain how to do in-depth editing. All adjustments are simple and the original picture is always saved, just in case you change your mind later. The app also has a direct feed to Photoshop’s website where, once you have them how you want, you can store 2GB of your favorites online! The app is a free download and to set up your storage account online doesn’t cost you anything either. For that price, you just can’t go wrong.
With the Photoshop.com Mobile app you can do basic cropping, rotating and flipping, as well as some color tweaking like adjusting the exposure, saturation and tint. The app also has sketch and soft focus filters which add a little variety to the mix. But beyond that and a few pre-programmed effects that aren’t anything to brag about, there isn’t a lot of variation. It meets the needs of simple photo editing but lacks the creative potential that you would assume Adobe would give us.
As a quick photo fix tool, it can’t be beat, just don’t assume you’ll get the broad spectrum of editing options that you would expect from a program with the Photoshop name slapped on it. Photoshop.com Mobile will be a bit disappointing if you download it with those expectations. Be sure to check out our reviews on tons of other great iPhone apps.
