App Aims: Easy Photo Blogging On the Go
Reviewer’s Comments
Fuzzyshot Photo Blog was developed to enable mobile bloggers to share their iPhone or iPod touch images in a quick, easy, and interactive way. Simplicity is the guiding principle behind the app’s philosophy. Just a few minutes spent setting up an online account at Fuzzyshot.com, another couple of seconds becoming familiar with the app, and you’re set to be an official photo blogger at any time and in any place.

Fuzzyshot Photo Blog’s features are well thought out and easy to use. Simply open the app, snap a picture, fill in a few posting details, and presto!, the image is posted on your online photo blog, ready for viewing. The geo-tagging is a nice feature to have and seamlessly integrates with Google Maps. The images taken through the app are also placed in the device’s Camera Roll enabling you to back them up during the next sync with your computer. The app allows you to specify a post title as well as add a more in-depth photo caption to each image. If you don’t add a post title, the app automatically defaults to the date the post was uploaded. The developers have wisely chosen to limit blog posts to images taken with only the iPhone or iPod touch. This restriction levels the field so that all of the images are of roughly the same quality and fosters a sense of community among its subscribers. Before posting an image to the online blog, you have the option to limit the people who can see it by marking it “Private,” or set it to “Public” and then anyone can see the photo.
The most glaring omission is the ability to manipulate the image before it’s uploaded. Being able to crop or straighten a photo would be a valuable addition to the feature set.
The interface of the app is clean and intuitive. There are only a few screens to use in order to post an image online. The upload speed is quick and reliable and if, for some reason, the upload is interrupted, the picture is saved in the device’s Camera Roll.
The only irritation is the inability to keep the app active without staying in the camera mode. A simple landing screen would be useful as a holding place while you look for the next photo-op. For now, you have to either leave it in camera mode, which is hard on battery life, or exit the program entirely.
The overall look of the app is clean and uncluttered. The text is large and easy to read and the only graphics in the program are the photos the user takes. The associated website is also well designed and orderly.
Throughout the review period, the app responded well and ran reliably.
The developers that form Clean Slice Inc. are committed and responsive to their community of users. Because the app must be used with the online service, there is obviously a web presence, which offers a well-rounded FAQs page, an email address for feedback on the product, and another address for support questions. The founders have employed a unique twist to offering support by using an online chat forum, allowing them even more interaction with their customer base.
Fuzzyshot Photo Blog is exactly what it is billed to be: a simple, easy-to-use, interactive blogging program. Its giveaway price of free makes it a steal of a deal.
A refreshingly simple use of technology, Fuzzyshot Photo Blog definitely accomplishes its stated purpose of being simple, fast, and easy to use. While it’s not likely that there will be a formal gallery showing of iPhone photos, this is an ideal format for showing and sharing the casual snapshots of your day.
