App Aims: A Simple Guide to Stuff You Want
Reviewer’s Comments
Billed as being the single source for finding services around you, wherever you may be, iWant by Rudrajit Samanta Software has lofty, ambitious goals.
iWant has some nice features, including:
Drawbacks: The app has poor restaurant, bar, café, bank, and gas station search results due to relying solely on Yelp for user recommendations, returns outdated information in all categories, and misses many businesses entirely. A navigation app is only as valuable as the integrity and completeness of the information it provides and iWant’s shortcomings make it difficult to trust.
iWant’s interface is simple and reasonably straightforward. The main page’s buttons are large and easy to navigate through. It’s easy to understand the sequence of pages moving from the main page through to the driving directions.
Unfortunately, once you’ve jumped to the browser for driving directions, you’ve left iWant, which means that if you want to check out other categories, you have to restart the app. This is a common annoyance among navigation apps, but it’s still an area the developer can address to make this program stand out from the crowd.
The app’s graphics are simplistic and rather drab but fairly easy to understand. However, they don’t take advantage of the iPhone’s beautiful, colorful display capabilities.
iWant is a relatively stable app that performed even when jumping from the app to the browser, which is where many apps fall short.
Rudrajit Samanta Software has a well developed website which includes a FAQs page, email support, and an online manual. The developer is responsive to user requests and seems committed to providing a quality piece of programming.
iWant is a free app and therefore, worth its purchase price. This current version probably won’t be a critical app for your iPhone though.
The iWant app has pie-in-the-sky intentions but falls short in many areas. It is attempting to become the be-all and end-all in location aware apps and has bitten off more than it can chew. To become what iWant aspires to be is an ambitious undertaking to be sure, but the program needs more work to become a valuable app.
