App Aims: Music playing and sharing
Reviewer’s Comments
Simplify Media is an iPhone app for remotely listening to the music collection on your home computer from your iPhone or iPod touch. It also allows you to stream music from up to 30 of your friends. Along with album art and song data, it shows artist bios and lyrics. With Simplify, you can leave your music collection at home and still play it without having to put it all on your iPhone.

Simplify Media does one thing and does it really well. You can access your own or your friends’ music libraries and play them without having to download them to your iPhone. Unfortunately it won’t play songs purchased from iTunes, but if the music library has come from CDs or other non-DRM sources, and are in MP3 or AAC format, you can play them from wherever you have a network connection.
The complexity of what this app does behind the scenes is completely eclipsed by how easy it is to use. For what it does, it is amazingly simple. It does require you to install and setup a program on your home computer, but it’s all very straightforward, and just works.
Simplify Media has a very simple and easy interface. There aren’t a lot of extra features, but what it does have works perfectly. Once it connects with the library you can view and play any of the existing playlists, or find songs by artist, genre or album. While the song is playing, you can move to the next or previous song, pause/play or view artist bios or lyrics. Unfortunately, you can’t fast forward through a song or use your iPhone for other things while playing music, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give this app a try. A search feature would also be very helpful.
This is a very nice looking iPhone app. Buttons are easy to identify and use. Album art is displayed along with song information, artist bio and lyrics if available.
In reviewing Simplify Media, there were no problems with it, even after running for hours at a time. It performed exceptionally, never crashed and didn't lose its connection.
The app itself is very easy to use and has buttons in the settings dialog to access online help if needed. If you do have problems or questions, the Simplify Media website has excellent information on how it works, troubleshooting tips and FAQs.
Simplify Media does what it does, simply and reliably. Many people have extensive CD libraries that they have imported to play on their iPods. With Simplify Media, all these songs can be played remotely without needing to load them on your iPhone.
Simplify Media lives up to its name. It provides access to your media with a simple setup on your home computer and iPhone. It’s a rock solid app that works. If you’re okay with just playing MP3 or AAC songs that are not protected with DRM, and want to access your or your friends’ song libraries without wanting to fill up the space on your iPhone, then you will definitely want to give this app a try.
