Fireworks is a simple iPhone app that does one thing pretty well. Simply tap on the screen and it shoots a firework that explodes at that point on the screen. By tapping quickly across the screen you create a fireworks show on your iPhone screen in either portrait or landscape mode. Direct your own custom pyrotechnics display while listening to your music or simply use the built-in sound effects. The app includes options such as backdrop, fireworks size and color and the number of sparks and sound effects for a custom show. It also offers the option for an automatic show. There are a variety of places to choose as show’s backdrop so, for example, you can watch fireworks shooting in the night sky over the Louvre in Paris or the Coliseum in Rome.

You can play music in the background while creating your show, but unfortunately not from within the app. You must start music playing from your music library and then start up Fireworks and create the show. It would also be nice if you could record your show and play it back so you could watch without your finger in the way. The fireworks are fun to watch, but it would be nice if they were more realistic. The backdrops are a nice touch that adds some variety to the show.

Fireworks does get old after a while, but it’s so easy to use, it’s a clever app to use for the occasional bit of fun. There is some room for improvement, but the current version is a good beginning for this clever app.
