App Aims: Counting Calories And Tracking Weight
Reviewer’s Comments
Basically, Count if Off simply tracks calorie totals and weight. The marketing material reports that it does more such as tracking carbs, protein and fat, however we couldn’t figure out how to make it do that. We have been reviewing software for many years now and have looked at quite a few iPhone apps and even we could not figure our how to get all of the screens to display that are in the sample screenshots on iTunes.
In addition, this program requires that you enter the nutritional information. Count if Off doesn’t include a food database, so if you want to add a tomato as something you have consumed for example, you have to add the calorie count and other information yourself, which means more than likely you will have to look it up somewhere else. We thought that perhaps the online version offered a bit more information and it does, but not much more. For example, we typed in popcorn and it offered air-popped or oil-popped as the only options and you could not easily adjust the quantity.
Count if Off is extremely simplistic and requires the user to enter in nutritional information, which is inconvenient and unless you have the entire nutritional value of your diet memorized, it will likely never be used. We also had a hard time getting this program to easily do what it says it does. We would recommend Calorie Tracker from LIVESTRONG.com as an alternative; it includes a food database and has great online content as well.
