Paper Toss provides an electronic alternative for those who don’t want to be caught throwing a ball of paper into a trash can when they’re supposed to be working. The goal of this iPhone App is simple. You have to get the ball of paper into the trash can while combating the fan’s air currents trying to send your shot the other way. If it wasn’t for the fan, you would have a straight shot at the can every time. However, as the strength of the fan’s wind increases, casual users can be turned away because it’s almost too challenging.

For those looking for a lot of replay value in an iPhone App, you’re only going to find a temporary thrill with Paper Toss. Beyond the four different settings (which are Airport, Easy, Medium, and Hard), you aren’t offered anything beyond what the game’s title advertises. However, the desire to beat the fan’s wind, and rack up the highest score is addictive. You have to hit the breeze at exactly the right angle, or else your shot will either be oh-so-close, or it will sail off into the next cubicle.

Another issue is the lack of an options menu. All you’re given in the game’s main menu are the skill levels and the high score button. It would be nice if you were allowed to adjust some of the settings, but thankfully there isn’t much in need of adjusting. Users have become accustomed to being able to micromanage their iPhone Apps, so having no options menu is disheartening for many.

The main menu has five options to choose from: the levels of difficulty (Easy, Medium and Hard), Airport, and a High Score menu. For users who are tired of complex interfaces, Paper Toss provides a charming change of pace. You won't find a simpler interface in any iPhone App on the market today.

Graphically, Paper Toss is a thing of beauty. For a simple game, the developers put a lot of effort in making it look easy on the eyes. While some other iPhone Apps have graphics that leave a lot to be desired, Paper Toss will never disappoint.

We ran into a stability problem while attempting to take a screenshot. The game locked up, crashed, and had to be restarted, but, other than that one instance, you will run into nothing besides flawless, uninterrupted game play. It doesn’t lock up while you’re playing so your countless epic battles with the fan won’t be trounced by maddening malfunctions.

Users can email Backflip Studios at support@backflipstudios.com, but thankfully this iPhone App is good enough that very few issues will arise. However, if you have any problems, their quality representatives will handle your inquiries flawlessly.

Paper Toss draws the user in and provides them with enough hours of gameplay just as well as iPhone Apps in the $2-4 range. Backflip Studios could charge for this game, and still have fans coming out of the woodwork to download it.

Summary:

Paper Toss is among one of the most entertaining iPhone Apps on the market today, but once the novelty wears off, you’re left looking for your next irritating, but challenging adventure. Despite its limited replay value, we would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a good time, and a worthy opponent (the fan). If you were to play this game, it would be time well spent.
