App Aims: Put Your Fingers To Work…Diffusing Bombs!
Reviewer’s Comments
Dactyl by Mauvila Software has an extremely simplistic interface with few options but it’s much harder to play than you might imagine. The point of the game is to tap on as many bombs as possible as they go red, but before they go off. If you accidently hit the background, or the blue area, the game quits automatically and gives you a score of zero.
Though this game has some user “rave” reviews (which may or may not be real) on iTunes, there were a few things that we didn’t like about it. The biggest being that it doesn’t offer different levels, like an easy, medium and hard, unfortunately there isn’t a “training” mode for beginners, so it does get frustrating if you are just learning. However, we did have a few teens try this game and not surprisingly, they were much faster and more adept at this game than the adults.
Dactyl 2 is available for $2.99. This version has different levels, an “expert level,” global high score comparisons and the full first version without the touch-sensitive background. If you really like the concept of Dactyl we would recommend that you spend a few bucks and get the upgraded version.
Overall, this game was somewhat annoying because there is no training or beginner level to help you get up to speed. However, if you already have fast tapping fingers and great hand-eye coordination, this may not bother you and likely you will really enjoy this game.
We would recommend that you try the free version of Dactyl and if you really like it invest the three dollars and get the upgraded version which appears to be a much better game.
