LoveCalc brings to mind the days when puppy love and crush-of-the-minute ruled the heart. It was possible to spend hours doodling that special someone’s name on every available scrap of paper. For some people, that could possibly be last week but for most individuals who’ve left junior high behind, it’s fun to relive those innocent times occasionally. This app provides a quick and easy opportunity to just that. Simply enter both of your first names in LoveCalc’s name fields and tap “Calculate”. The app’s screen changes to display a large grey heart that turns red, thermometer-style, to show just how compatible the two of you are. For clarity, the compatibility percentage is also displayed below the heart. For even more accurate results enter both first and last names.

LoveCalc is the electronic equivalent to those sophomoric name games you indulged in when you were about 12 or 13 years old. It’s entertaining for a bit but the novelty quickly wears off. You’ve just got to face it—compatibility is an acquired skill. It involves more elements than a simple mathematical equation can account for. Since it’s a free app, it’s worth having on your iPhone or iPod touch for certain occasions such as Valentine’s Day but you probably won’t want it taking up valuable real estate on your device’s screens for very long.
